Theme: The Holy Spirit's Symbols - 02



Text: 1Corinthians 2.10b

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. In several places in the Bible He appears together with two other persons.
·                     And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.  John 14.16a
·                      Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the son and the Holy Spirit. Mathew 28.19b
·                     May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2Corinthians 13.13
The work of the Holy Spirit in benefits of the Christians:
·                     To console – He was calling for Jesus, Counselor. John 14.16
·                     To convict – of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment. John 16.8
·                     To teach – all things. John 14.26
·                     To live – will be in us. John 14.17
·                     Intercedes – for us. Romans 8.26
·                     To give fruit – Galatians 5.22,23
·                     To sanctify - 2Thessalonians 2.13; 1Peter 1.2

Obligations of the Christians with the Holy Spirit:
·                     Filled with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5.18b
·                     Not grieve the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4.30a
·                     Do not put out the spirit’s fire. 1Thessalonians 5.19
Many known things are use of the illustration for the Holy Spirit’s activity. Your work is shown trough many symbols.
·                     Oil – it was the same olive oil to anoint the Tent of Meeting. With the anointing oil they were sanctified. Exodus 30.25-30
·                     When a king was crowned, he receives the oil anoint. 1Samuel 10.1; 16.13
·                      It was used in the lampstand to produce light. Exodus 27.20 this way the oil represents the lamp to light up God’s house for his people.  
·                     Like feed, it was seen in the widow at Zarephath history, that faced three years of dry, she had flour and olive. 1Kings 17.12-14
·                     It was used like remedy; in case of the Good Samaritan that puts olive oil and wine in the man’s wounds. Luke 10.34
·                     Isaiah compares the sin like wounds not soothed with oil. Isaiah 1.6
·                     The Holy Spirit anointed Jesus to start his ministry. Isaiah 61.1; Luke 4.18
·                     And because of him now we are anointed for God. 2Corinthians 1.21b,22
·                     Like an anointed Priest with oil was sanctified, now we are sanctified for Holy Spirit. 1Peter 1.2
·                     Water – water has the function to quench one’s thirst, to wash dirty and to feed the plants. Water makes plants produce fruits; the Holy Spirit makes the Christians to produce spirituals fruits. Isaiah 58.11; Galatians 5.22,23
·                     To sanctify our life, the Holy Spirit to act likes water. Ezekiel 36.25a, 27a;
·                     When the Christian sins, the Holy Spirit to become sad and doesn’t come the God’s blessings in rain form. It is time to seek the Lord. Hosea 10.12b;
·                     Streams of living water will flow in that believes in Jesus Christ. John 7.38,39b;
·                     Wind – the wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Holy Spirit. John 3.8;
·                     In the coming of Holy Spirit, He comes like a wind.  Acts 2.2;
·                     The Holy Spirit breaths in the valley of dry bonesEzekiel 37.9,10;
·                     Seal – you were marked with the promised Holy Spirit. Ephesians1. 13b;
·                     God anointed us set his seal of ownership on us. 2Corinthians 1.21b, 22a;
·                     Lord knows those who are his. 2Timothy 2.19b
·                     The good shepherd knows his sheep. John 10.14a
·                     Pledge – the pledge is guaranty or proof that gives in return of one debt. The Holy Spirit is our life guaranty.  2Corinthians 1.22; 5.5;
·                     The Holy Spirit is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance. Ephesians 1.13b, 14a;
·                     And this is how we know that he lives in us. 1John 3.24b;
·                     Fire – the fire represents purification and penetration of the Spirit. Acts 2.3;
·                     The Spirit's fire cleanses man’s life. Hebrews 12.29; Isaiah 6.5-7;
·                     Dove – the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on Jesus Mathew 3.16
·                     Bibles commands to be innocent like doves. Mathew 10.16b
·                     Clothes – our justifications are compares like clothes. Psalm 132.9; Revelation 19.8
·                     The Holy Spirit clothes us with power. Luke 24.49b
·                     Gideon wins because he was clothed with the Holy Spirit. Judges 6.34a
·                     The Laodicea Christians were counsel to buy white clothes to wear, so can cover their nakedness. Due the church is naked, without the Holy Spirit Revelation 3.18b
