Theme: Effective Prayer. - 24


Text:1Chronicles 4.9, 10

Effective Prayer is one whose trust is placed in the Most High God wihtout ever doubting his power.

The pillars of effective prayer

I – God of Israel Oh, that you would bless me - v 10a
·       Then you willcll upon me and pray to me, and I will listen you, you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where a have banish you, declares the Lord, and will bring you back to the place from which i carried you into exile. Jeremiah 29.12-14
·       And without Faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who  seek him. Hebrews 11.6
·       Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of Faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our body washed wiht pure water. Hebrews 10.22
·       Let us then approach the trone of grace with confidence, so that we may recieve mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4.16

II - And enlarge my territory – v 10b
·       The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. Deuteronomy 28.8
·       He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in seasonand whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prosper. Psalms 1.3
·       But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17.7,8
·       Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have Faith in his prophets and you will be successful. 2Cronicles 20.20b
·       As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success. 2Cronicles 26.5b (Uzziah King of Judah)
·       He who trusts in the Lord will prosper. Proverbs 28.25b (will put on weight)
·       O Lord, grant us success. Psalms 118:25b

III – Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm – v10c
·       The Lord protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, he save me. Psalms 116.6
·       The Jacob made a vow, saying, if God will be with meand will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my fathers’s house, the the Lord will be my God and the stone that I have set up us a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth. Genesis 28.20-22
·       There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions. I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, becuse we had told the king, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him”. So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer. Ezra 8.21-23
  
IV – So that I will be free from pain - v10d
·       Gos is our refuge and strength, and ever present help in trouble. Psalms 46.1
·       For you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. Psalms 59.16b
·       And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will delivery ou, and you will honor me. Psalms 50.15
·       He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. Psalms 91.15
·       Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 2.18
·       My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and Earth. Psalms 121.2

V – And God granted his request - v10e
·       I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two groups. Genesis 32.10b
·       On the twelfth day of the first month we set out from the Ahava canal to go to Jerusalem. The hand o four God was on us, and he protected us from enemies and bandits along the way. Ezra 8.31
·       If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayes offered in this place. 2Chronicles 7.14,15
·       If you fully obey the Lord your Godand carefully follow all his comands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on Earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 28.1,2
·       Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. The you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1.8

Angels, Ministering Spirits




Text: Hebrews 1.7
Angels are spiritual beings, made by God. They help him do his work on Earth. The word angel (hb. malak; gr. Angelos) means messenger. Hebrews 1.13,14

The Good Angels and their functions.
·       They are used as God’s messengers to his servants. Luke 1.26; Judges 13.3; Mathew 1.20
·       They are protectors of God’s people on Earth. Genesis 18. 23-33; Genesis 48.16; Psalm 34.7; Psalm 91.11;
·       They are encouraging to the faithful. Genesis 16.7-10; Genesis 21.17,18; Judges 6.12
·       They are leaders of the people who guide them on their way on Earth. Exodus 14.19; Exodus 23.20
·       They go through all over the Earth. Zechariah 1.9-14
·       They execute divine punishments.  2Samuel 24.16; Genesis 19.13; 2Kings 19.35
·       They fight against the forces of evil.  2Kings 6.16-18; Revelation 20.1,2 
·       One of their tasks is to offer continuous praise to God. Revelation 7.11,12; Psalm 103.20; Psalm 148.2
·       They are used to serve faihtful on Earth. 1Kings 19.5-8; Mathew 4.11
·       They are used to warn the people on Earth. Ecclesiastes 5.6
·       They are used to console and save the faithful. Isaiah 63.9; Daniel 3.28; Daniel 6.22
·       Tey will be in God’s judgment to punish the unfaithful. Mathew 13.41
·       They are often before God contemplatling his face. Mathew 18.10; Isaiah 6.3
·       They used to rebuke unfaithful and disobedient believers. Numbers 22.31-35
·       They are blessers of those who fear the Lord. Genesis 31.11-13  

The Bad Angels and their functions.
·       They are accusers of God’s people. Revelation 12.10
·       Hell is their destiny. Mathew 25.41
·       The abyss and darkness are reserved for them. 2Peter 2.4
·       They are destined for eternal shackles and the judgment of God. Jude 6
·       They came to kill, steal and destroy. John 10.10
·        They walking like a lion looking for whom swallow. 1Peter 5.8

The Angel of the Lord is Jesus Christ himself in representative language. (theophany)

·       The escape of Hagar and the encounter with the Angel of the Lord in the desert. Genesis 16.7-13
·       Prevented Abraham from killing his son on  Mount Moriah. Genesis 22.11-18
·       The Angel of God went ahead of the army of Israel to protect him from the fury of Pharaoh. Exodus 14.19,20
·        Appeared before the donkey of the prophet Balaam with his sword drawn. Numbers 22.23
·        Appeared to the Israelites in Bokim and renewed the promisses to conquer the land. Judges 2.1-5
·       Appeared to the Manoah’s wife to announce the birth of Samson. Judges 13.3,17,18
·       Appeared to Joshua before destroying Jericho. Joshua 5.13-15
